HBO to Make Gaiman’s American Gods

THR is reporting that HBO are planning to make a six-season version of Neil Gaiman’s Hugo award-winning novel American Gods. The novel, which has a soon-to-be-released 10th Anniversary edition, follows the simple idea that mythological creatures including, yes, gods, really do exist and have been brought to the U.S. by the immigrants that believed in them. But as belief in mythology has waned in the face of technology and celebrity, so too have the gods own powers.

The series, which will be produced by Gary Goetzman and Tom Hanks, will likely debut in 2013.
