Once Upon a Time Review: The Thing You Love Most

Rating: ★★★½☆

Threatened by Emma’s arrival in Storybrooke, Regina plots ways to get Emma out of Henry’s life. Meanwhile, we learn more about the deadly curse that brought the characters to Storybrooke.

Best Moment: I both loved that Emma took it upon herself to cut down Regina’s precious apple trees, and the fact that the trees themselves looked completely fake. More suggestions that Storybrooke isn’t actually the real world? Also loved seeing True Blood’ Kristin Bauer chewing scenery as Maleficent.

Verdict: Another fun episode. Initially I assumed the fairytale world would be a set up for the series, and the story would take place solely in the “real world” but this episode suggests what we’ll actually see is a Lost-like flashback, which is certainly interesting too.

This episode told us a little more about Regina’s past as the Evil Queen. Show ▼

This certainly adds sympathy to an otherwise mostly two-dimensional character. Although, I must say, there’s a big part of me that feels sorry for Regina the Mayor. She raised Henry from the time he was a baby, and yet he hates her and believes her an Evil Queen. Never mind that he’s correct, it’s still sad.

Overall, I liked this episode. It added a little more depth to Regina and the obstacles that she has faced. The question is why has she done all this? Something tells me it’s more than just the fact that Snow White is prettier than her.
