In an interview with AVClub Joss Whedon discusses the possibility of a Buffy spinoff starring Anthony Stewart Head. The much talked about spinoff called Ripper would have been a BBC production, although for one reason or another, it never has seemed to go anywhere.
In the interview Whedon explains that the BBC are still interested in doing an ASH series with Joss: the essence of it—is that the BBC came to me at one point like, “It doesn’t have to be Ripper. It can just be [Anthony Stewart Head], and there’s magic…..that’s the thing with Ripper: It doesn’t go away in my head because he’s still right for it, and he could still bring it.
Whether this means we can expect to see a Ripper series in the near future is anyone’s guess. However, the interview is well worth checking out as he does also talk The Cabin in the Woods, The Avengers and his new take on Much Ado About Nothing.
