Inter-Galaxy Portal News RoundUp 15th March 2013

Rutger Hauer True Blood

How’s your week been going? I’m still bouncing around with excitement over the news that there’s going to be a Veronica Mars movie. Not just that there will be a movie, but the record breaking funding via Kickstarter. Wow! I admit, I have some reservations about Kickstarter and Hollywood. I may even have to write about some of those reservations in future posts. But in the meantime, there’s going to be a Veronica Mars movie!

We also geeked out a bit this week with board games. Not only did we finally get to try out Munchkin for the first time (I know, have I been living under a rock?) but I found out this week that Steve Jackson of Munchkin isn’t the same Steve Jackson a la the Steve Jackson and Ian Livingston Fighting Fantasy books I grew up with in England. Huh. You learn a new thing every day. We also went a little boardgame crazy and picked up Timber Peak (the latest stand alone expansion to Last Night on Earth) and Shadows Over Camelot. Ooh, and tonight we get to try out a new Steampunk card game which I will report on next week!

So of course with all this news about a Veronica Mars movie, the inevitable question becomes when will we see more Firefly? And as I posted on twitter, most of us aren’t that picky, we’ll take sock puppets if that’s all that they can do. Sadly, Joss Whedon is busy being Kevin Feige’s go-to-guy at Marvel and it looks like he’ll be busy for the next few years, according to this Buzzfeed article.

This week saw the release of the first trailer for Kick-Ass 2, and personally I think it looks fantastic. Check it out.

Also this week, I reviewed the latest exhibits at the EMP Museum, Seattle’s own museum devoted to scifi. Oh yeah, and rock music. If that’s your thing.

Lastly, we got to see new images of Rutger Hauer on the set of True Blood which you can see above. Hauer will play Macklyn, someone who proves to be an important person from Jason and Sookie’s past.
