Hello! How’s your week been going? I’ve been in a fit of determination to get the TARDIS/vocal booth finished. So far, so good. We have half the windows done, and the top sign is up, so it really does look like a TARDIS now instead of just a big blue box. Hoping to be able to share some pics of the completed TARDIS with everyone next week. We shall see! This past week I also reviewed my new toy the M41A pulse rifle by Matrix. In other news, I’m still picking my jaw up from the floor after the ending to this past week’s Game of Thrones. Without spoiling it for anyone, all I can say is “holy cow!” Wow. Just wow. I’m so bummed next week is the season finale already.
Speaking of being bummed, more bummer news came this week with the official BBC announcement that Matt Smith is leaving Doctor Who after the 50th Anniversary episode. I’m still thoroughly confused because there was an announcement a few weeks back saying he was confirmed for another series. Damn you BBC for getting out hopes up! Here’s what Matt Smith had to say: “It’s been an honour to play this part, to follow the legacy of brilliant actors, and helm the TARDIS for a spell with ‘the ginger, the nose and the impossible one’. But when ya gotta go, ya gotta go and Trenzalore calls. Thank you guys. Matt.” You can read his full statement over at SFX. And now the next question on everyone’s lips is “who will be the 12th Doctor?” Personally, I’m not going to bother with speculation. I’m sure I shall be pleasantly surprised. I didn’t think anyone could follow in David Tenant’s footsteps, and the initial publicity photos of Matt Smith (sans bowtie) seemed to confirm that, yet he has proven to one of the best actors to portray the Doctor.
In happier news, Dan Harmon confirmed via twitter that he will be returning to Community. The other day he tweeted “Yes yes yes! I’m back I’m back I’m back. You can thank @joelmchale.” Personally, I’m thrilled. I had virtually written off Community last season. It was enjoyable, but I didn’t think it warranted another season. But with Dan Harmon back at the helm, I can’t wait to see what he does with it. Maybe last season will turn out to be all in Abed’s head. I should also mention that a later tweet from Dan Harmon read: Curse you, Matt Smith. I haven’t been this unfairly upstaged in the news since my Fall 2001 Atkins Announcement.
In quasi-Doctor Who news, Karen Gillan joins Lee Pace, Zoe Saldana and Chris Pratt in the upcoming Guardians of the Galaxy movie. No word as yet who she will portray however she will be the main female villain. I am thoroughly intrigued by James Gunn’s casting so far. Can’t wait to see how this all turns out.
In other news, more images for Thor: The Dark World have been released. Cast your eyes skyward to see Christopher Ecclestone as Malekith.
