Ho hum, it seems like it’s been a fairly quiet week. Well, not quiet exactly, just not too much geeky news to report here. We did go to the Renaissance Faire which was fun. I like the ren faire, but I’m finding more and more that it’s become so diluted, anachronisms everywhere, that I’m actually more eager to go see this living history museum which also does a summer faire. Apparently there’ll be lots of demonstrations of life in 14th century England. It might end up being a little dry, but there’s only so long you can chant for your Italian knight at the joust when the country wasn’t formed until two centuries after the the renaissance period.
So what else have we been up to? This week we went to see Elysium, which I really enjoyed. You can read the review here. We also dug through the vaults to look for our top scifi and fantasy children’s novels. Actually, most of the list were fantasy novels. I wrote the article five years ago and would love to actually add a few more books that I have discovered since then.
It’s quiet on the news front this week, but we do have two trailers. The first is for Yonderland, a new fantasy sitcom on Sky One.
Next we have the latest international trailer for The Hunger Games: Catching Fire
Finally, cast your eyes skyward to see shots of Guardians of the Galaxy recently shot at the Millennium Bridge in London.
