How has your week been? It’s been relatively quiet here. Last week Webmonkey Rob ran a game of Fortune and Glory with seven players. That was crazy. Also insanely easy to win. It seems big groups playing cooperatively might be too easy for this game. Then we went and watched Kick-Ass 2 which I thought was almost as good as the first movie. You can check out my review here. Then this morning I felt a great disturbance in the force, as though a millions of geeks cried out at once…
Yep, that disturbance came after news that the role of The Batman in the upcoming Batman vs Superman movie would be filled by Ben Affleck. I cringe just thinking about it. On the one hand, he’s been turning in some decent work lately in terms of acting and directing. On the other, it’s Affleck and my knee-jerk reaction forces me to cringe at this news. Moreover, I’ve been enjoying the recent trend of casting relative unknowns. Affleck is a movie star and you don’t need a movie star to sell Batman to fans. Throw Superman into the same movie as well, and you’re guaranteed bums on seat no matter who plays Batman.
Speaking of casting news, Natalie Dormer has signed on to play the bald, tattoo loving Cressida in Mockingjay. I absolutely love Dormer’s work as Margaret Tyrell in Game of Thrones. I can’t wait to see what she does with this role!
Other than that, it’s been a slow news week. However, cast your eyes skywards for some new images from X-Men: Days of Future Past.
