• Tweet Dear IGP Readers, As some of you may know, it’s been a rough year for me. I’ve had two close deaths in my family in less than a year, and frankly I think it’s time for a vacation. I’ve been running Inter-Galaxy portal for five years, virtually non-stop. And […]

 • Hello, this Day of the Dead. How was everyone's Halloween? Since I am writing this on Thursday for posting tomorrow, I can't say for sure how mine went. However pumpkins are out, and I have vague plans to light a fire, perhaps watch some Buffy and play Last Night On Earth. Earlier this week we watched the first Evil Dead movie. I'd seen Part 2, many years ago, but Webmonkey Rob hadn't watched either of the first two films, and insisted on watching the first one first. Yikes. I have to say, I know it's a cult hit, but sometimes "cult" doesn't actually mean "good". I seem to recall the second one being better, and of course I loved Army of Darkness.

 • Thanks to the tireless efforts of Susie Rantz over at GeekGirlCon, I and a handful of other bloggers were able to sit down and chat with one of my favourite television writers, Jane Espenson. Here are some of her thoughts on her work on Buffy the Vampire Slayer, the shows she would most like to work on and what she plans to dress up as for Halloween.

 • Before I go into what I thought of this episode, can we please address the fact that their HQ is on a plane? For some reason I never actually clued into this. I figured at some point they would be hanging about SHIELD headquarters, but no, this episode confirms that they live on a freaking plane. And it's a terrible idea.

 • I am sitting here in my little office still recovering from GeekGirlCon. This year, which is the convention's third year, was again at the Conference Centre across the street from Washington State Convention Centre in downtown Seattle. Once again, the show was expertly run. Not too many crowds. Volunteers were everywhere and always helpful. If you don't like cons because they are just too crowded and unruly, GeekGirlCon is a breath of fresh air
